Located in Aurora Colorado, a suburb of Denver. You are required to purchase a day or weekend pass. It has a beach and water area reserved for Scuba Divers.
A sunken twin engine airplane allows divers to dive on a wreck. Visibility is usually between 15 to 30 feet. It does have a portolet close by and 2 covered areas with lockable equipment caves, tables & changing areas.
Disadvantages:
You are not allowed to drive to the scuba beach. You have to manually haul your gear over the ridge of the dam (this is a big issue for us older divers). Scuba shops or divers can pay for a pass that allows them to drive through to unload equipment however.
Open water classes are required to use platforms, which due to the shallow entry off the beach, means
long surface swims for students.
The area does not have any trees or phones in the immediate area.
